Sunken or rocking blocks cannot be corrected by cleaning. Where needed, affected paving can be lifted, the bedding corrected and the blocks relaid before re-sanding.

Block paving cleaned and re-sanded in Radcliffe on Trent
On this Radcliffe on Trent driveway, RMS removed built-up dirt, algae and grime with a full pressure clean. Fresh kiln-dried sand was then brushed into the paving joints.

Planning your block paving cleaning and re-sanding
Why do the blocks need to dry before re-sanding?
Damp joints can prevent kiln-dried sand from filling them properly. Cleaning and re-sanding may therefore take place at separate visits, depending on the weather and how the paving dries. The sequence should be based on the actual condition of the blocks and joints.
Will cleaning and re-sanding level sunken paving?
No. Joint sand maintains the joints; it does not rebuild support underneath a sunken section. If blocks rock or hold standing water, our block paving repairs and restoration service can assess whether local lifting and relaying is suitable.
Will weeds stay away permanently?
We cannot promise a permanently weed-free driveway. Cleaning addresses the current build-up and suitable re-sanding replenishes the joints. Debris, growing conditions and future maintenance still affect what returns.
